ALL ABOUT ME

Dogs have been a part of my life since I was a small child.

I couldn’t have a dog when I got my own place, as like most people I worked full time. My first job was in a bank (for those of you old enough to remember it was ‘The Listening Bank’!). I only planned to work there for a year or two, but before I knew it several years had passed and I was well into double figures before I moved on.

My next job was working for a small business, in a clerical and admin position, and I was able to take a dog to work with me. So Willow, a Border Terrier, came into my life. About two years later Nelly (also a Border Terrier) joined us, and I loved them to bits.

As is the way of things they both passed on. I missed them so much, but wasn’t ready to get another dog.

The business I worked for closed, and I took some time off, to think about what I wanted to do. I got bored within a couple of weeks (!), and saw an advert for a seasonal part time kennel hand at a local dog rescue centre. I applied for the job, not thinking for one minute that I would get it, but I did.

That seasonal part time role became permanent and full time, and over the last two years I have worked with many different types of dogs, and learned a lot. I have fostered three dogs, one went to a wonderful home, I adopted the other two 😁 and a third!. My girls are quite different from each other, both in appearance, personality and character, and they get along very well.

I love working at the rescue centre, but have decided to move on to dog walking, though I will still be working at the rescue centre part time.
